Frequently asked questions

The questions people actually ask. If yours is not here, the contact page reaches a person.

What is a traffic exchange?

Members look at each other's sites. You earn credits by viewing other people's pages, and you spend those credits having your own shown to other members. Nobody pays for the traffic in money unless they want to buy credits outright.

How many credits do I earn?

Your surf ratio decides it, and your ratio depends on your membership level. The rate you are on is shown while you surf, so you never have to work it out.

Why did a page not give me credit?

Credit is given for a page you actually looked at. Leaving the tab in the background, running several sessions at once, or clicking through faster than the timer will not count — and the surfbar says so at the time rather than quietly withholding it.

Can I advertise anything?

Not quite. The terms list what is not allowed: nothing illegal, nothing that installs software or opens windows, nothing pornographic or hateful. Everything else is fine.

Do I have to pay?

No. A free account can surf and advertise. Paid membership improves your surf ratio and gives you more room; buying credits skips the surfing.

I am not getting your emails.

Check the spam folder first. If a message to you bounced, the site will tell you the next time you sign in and offer to try again or take a different address.

How do I close my account?

On your account page, at the bottom. It asks you to confirm, and there is a short window afterwards in which we can undo it if you change your mind.
